Step 1: Dilute
Mix the ethanol with water. This lowers the alcohol concentration and makes it safe for disposal.
Step 2: Pour
Slowly pour the diluted mixture down the drain - similar to disposing of household alcohol. Pour carefully to avoid splashing.
Step 3: Rinse
Run additional water down the drain to flush any remaining residue from the line.
A Note on Local Regulations
Ethanol is chemically similar to household alcohol (it behaves much like vodka or rubbing alcohol). When diluted with water, it is safe to pour down the drain, the same way most household alcohol is discarded.
These steps are safe and appropriate for household plumbing. We recommend checking your local regulations, as requirements can vary by area.
