"Kailua is special to us," shares Kamohai. "It's where our families are from, and this project tugged at our heartstrings." Despite Hawaii's warm climate, Trystyn and Kamohai saw an opportunity to elevate their design with a non-traditional feature—a fireplace. "We've never included a fireplace in any project before," Trystyn explains, "but this home, listed at $3.29 million, demanded unique, high-end features."  

EcoSmart Fire's electric fireplace offers the visual warmth of crackling flames without exacerbating the balmy climate, thanks to its heat-optional design. It's the perfect year-round homage to hearth and home in a setting where traditional fireplaces would be impractical.

Aware of the beautiful, natural Hawaiian setting around their project, the Kalamas blend eco-friendliness with luxury. Their use of an electric fireplace insert, which produces no emissions, allows for the enjoyment of its beautiful, flickering light without harming the environment. This eco-conscious choice supports the Kalamas' goal of creating a contemporary tropical home that exists in harmony with nature. 

Despite the logistical hurdles that island living presents, the electric fireplace transitioned from concept to reality with unexpected ease.
